Molly Kane '09 drained four shots from three-point range and finished with 17 points for Hamilton (13-5 overall, 6-3 league). Pumla Sathula '08 chipped in six points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Selin Whitham '09 led Union (10-10, 6-4) with 12 points and five rebounds. Michelle Rogers '09 added eight points and two steals. Krystal Hammond '07 scored all six of her points in the second half. Hammond also posted five rebounds and three assists.
A three-pointer by Whitham with 2:24 left in the first half was the last lead for the Dutchwomen at 23-22. Kane made a layup with 1:17 remaining and the Continentals took a 24-23 advantage into the break. Kane then scored the first seven points of the second half on a pair of three-pointers and a free throw to put Hamilton up 31-23. Union didn't get closer than five points the rest of the game. The Continentals led by as many as 13 points late in the second half.
Hamilton shot 45.8 percent (11-24) from the field and went 10-for-12 at the free throw line in the final 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the Dutchwomen shot 33.3 percent (7-21) from the floor in the second half. The Continentals owned a 35-27 advantage in rebounds.
Hamilton has won four straight and six of its last seven to pull into a tie for second place in the league standings. Union has lost three of its last four. The Continentals lead the all-time series against the Dutchwomen with 24 wins and 17 losses. Hamilton hosts Albany College of Pharmacy for a non-league game on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m.
