Molly Kane '09 finished with a game-high 12 points for Hamilton (16-7 overall, 8-5 league). Kane made 3 of 5 shots from three-point range and the Continentals drained 9 of 18 as a team. Hamilton's 16 wins are the most for the program since 1992-93.
Sydney Fasulo '09 added 10 points for the Continentals. Fasulo, who leads Hamilton at 15.1 points per game, went 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Liz Longley '07 scored a season-high 10 points off the bench in just 14 minutes. Pumla Sathula '08 chipped in nine points and four assists.
Rachel Cerlen '07 paced Vassar (6-17, 1-12) with 11 points, a game-high nine rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals. The Brewers ended up with 29 rebounds to the Continentals' 39. Vassar has lost 12 straight games.
Emily Haeuser '10 gave the Brewers their only lead at 2-0 with an offensive rebound and putback 14 seconds into the game. Hamilton then scored 12 straight points, six of which came from Sarah Schrader '09. The Continentals went on to a 42-13 lead at the half. Vassar made 5 of 24 shots from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
Hamilton opened the second half with an 11-2 run for a 53-15 advantage. The Continentals' lead grew to as much as 47 points twice after that. Hamilton was credited with 13 steals, which helped force 27 Brewer turnovers for the entire game.
The Continentals lead the all-time series against Vassar with 12 wins and two losses. Hamilton has held four of its last five opponents below 50 points at Scott Field House. The Continentals host Rensselaer in the league and regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. Both teams are tied for second place in the league standings with Union College. The winner of the Hamilton-Rensselaer is in the four-team league championships tournament while the loser is most likely out.
