With the win, the Saints improve to 19-1 overall, including a school record-tying 18 wins in a row, and 9-0 in the Liberty League. They will attempt to set the school’s standard on Saturday at 2pm at Vassar College. RPI falls to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the league. The Red Hawks host Clarkson University on Saturday at 2pm.
The two teams were tied at 56-56 with 8:58 remaining in the second half before St. Lawrence went ahead by four points (60-56) at 7:46. RPI pulled to within one point (60-59) on a three-points shot by Missy Jackman (Danvers, MA/Danvers) at the 7:32 mark and the two teams traded baskets the rest of the way. Palmer had four hoops for the Saints, including their final points (74-71) with 1:40 remaining.
After sophomore Elizabeth Barker (Springfield, MA/Cathedral) pulled the home team within one (74-73) with 1:21 left, both teams made several stops defensively. The biggest came by St. Lawrence’s Kimberly Sikule (Westerlo, NY/Berne-Knox-Westerlo), who made a steal as time expired.
Palmer connected on 12-of-20 shots from the floor, including 2-for-2 from three-point range and 4-of-6 from the free throw line, for her 30 points. She also had seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Junior guard Jamie Wolff (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy) added 12 points and four assists and senior guard Brittany Gaetano (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) scored ten points.
Sophomore guard Whitney Coleman (Etiwanda, CA/Etiwanda) recorded her first career triple-double, tallying ten points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists to lead RPI. Senior guard Destany Eagles (Conway, SC/Carolina Forest) scored a team-high 20 points with six assists, while senior forward Kristi Baranowski (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) had a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.
