Utica improves to 4-1, while Skidmore falls to 0-4.
The Pioneers used a 22-5 second-half run to break the game open. Utica was up by one 32-31 with 17:14 to play in the game when Doug Herring (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) hit a three-pointer to start the run that finished with Utica in front 54-36 with 10:05 to play.
Herring finished with a game-high 26 points, shooting 10-15 from the floor. Ray Bryant (Utica, N.Y.) added 14 for the Pioneers.
Jonah Haviland-Markowitz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Skidmore with 11 points. Jake Shechtman (Wynnewood, Pa.) had 10 points off the bench and Jon Douglas (Shutesbury, Mass.) had nine points and five blocks.
