The Pioneers outscored Hamilton 38-34 in the second half, but a four point play by Molly Kane (VVS/Sherill) with 33 second remaining gave Fasulo a chance to send it to overtime in the closing seconds. Fasulo and Kane combined for all of the Continentals eight overtime points as they sealed the victory.
UC had a chance to win it in overtime, but a baseline jumper by Ava Thomas (St. Raymonds/Bronx) fell just short as the buzzer sounded. Thomas finished the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She is currently averaging 14 points and 12.5 rebounds through four games this season.
Pumla Sathula (St. Annes-Belfield/Soweto, South Africa), who fouled out late in the second half, scored 19 and grabbed 11 boards for the Continentals. Kane score 14 and grabbed four boards, while Jessica Barrows (Old Saybrook/Old Saybrook, CT) tallied five points and four rebounds.
The Pioneers had five players in double-digits including Mallory Davis (Rockville/Vernon Rockville, CT), Laura Keating (Horseheads/Whiteboro), Jessica Snyder (Jordan-Elbridge/Elbridge), Dana Danziger (Point Pleasant/Point Pleasant, NJ), and Ava Thomas. Keating scored a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, while Davis shot 9-of-10 from the charity stripe and notched a season-best 21 points and seven assists.
Danziger scored 10 points and dished out five assists and Snyder, a freshman forward, scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor.
UC (3-1) returns to action at 2 p.m. on December 3rd as they travel to host Cazenovia College, while Hamilton (4-0) travels to Hartwick College on December 5th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
