ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's basketball team (8-7, 3-2 Empire 8) lost for the first time in three games, falling to visiting Rochester Institute of Technology (8-7, 2-2 Empire 8) Saturday. Sophomore center Jeff Bostic (Geneva/Geneva) scored a career-high 27 points.

Bostic, who also lead the team with 3 blocks, pulled down a team-high four rebounds along with freshman center Tom Brown (Bayport-Blue Point) and sophomore guard Sean Burton (Notre Dame/Yorkville). Burton scored 23 points and made a game-high eight assists. Sophomore forward Sean Leahy (West Genesee/Syracuse) scored 11 points and junior forward Dominic Scanlon (Oswego/Oswego) registered nine points.

RIT had four players in double figures. They were lead by junior guard Barrett Zeinfield (Catalina Foothills/Tucson, Ariz.), who had 26 points. Junior forward Kenny Gethers (Bishop Grimes/Syracuse) finished with 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Senior center Tim Bacon (Massena/Massena) had 15 points and sophomore guard Rick Whitwood (Wellsville/Wellsville) scored 10 points.

In the first half, the Bombers scored 14 points off of RIT turnovers and shot 50% from the field. A pull-up three-pointer by Burton with 3:03 remaining tied the score at 35-35. The next Bomber possession, a jumper by Bostic at 2:24 gave Ithaca a 37-35 lead. Burton went 4-5 from three-point range in the first, while Bostic went 5-7 from the field and 7-8 from the free-throw line. The first half ended with the score even, 41-41.

In the second half, the Bombers again shot 50% from the field. The game was tied five times during the second. The Bombers kept the score close as they battled back from a 12 point deficit to close RIT's led to 84-82. A few RIT free-throws prevented the Bombers' comeback as the game ended 90-84.

Ithaca plays at Alfred Friday at 6 p.m.
