UTICA, Ny - December 5, 2006 — UC WOMEN’S HOOPS PULLS AWAY IN SECOND HALF

UTICA, NY – The Utica College women’s basketball team defeated visiting Southern Vermont 86-49 Tuesday night at the Clark Athletic Center.
The Mountaineers kept it close in the first half as Jalessa Marshall (Waterbury/Waterbury, CT) scored 13 first half points and Pioneers went into the locker room with a slim four point lead.
UC came out strong in the second half and pulled away, outscoring Southern Vermont by 33 points in the final 20:00.
Karen Crisanti (Geneva/Geneva) led UC with 19 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Jessica Snyder (Jordan-Elbridge/Elbridge) scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Laura Keating (Horseheads/Whitesboro) came off the bench and scored 18 points and dished out five assists. Mallory Davis (Rockville/Vernon Rockville, CT) scored 11 points in 20:00 of work.
Maria Stipano (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) and Danielle Moore (Marylawn of Oranges/East Orange, NJ) each scored their first collegiate points. Stipano tallied three and had three assists, while Moore scored six points.
Ava Thomas (St. Raymonds/Bronx) grabbed nine rebounds and scored six points. Point guard Dana Danziger (Point Pleasant/Point Pleasant, NJ) scored two points and added two assists.
Shenika Dow (Raleigh/Raleigh, NC) shot 11-for-24 from the floor and tallied a game-high 27 points for the Mountaineers.
UC (5-1, 0-0 Empire 8) returns to action at 6 p.m. Thursday when they square off against visiting Oswego St. Free tickets for Thursday night’s game will be available at www.ucpioneers.com starting Wednesday.
