The Pipers (12-12, 10-11 in the MIAC) needed to win both of their remaining games and have either St. Catherine or St. Thomas lose their remaining games to get into the playoffs, but the Blazers (20-4, 19-2) held Hamline to 29 percent shooting in the contest.
The Pipers trailed 26-16 at the break after shooting 5-of-19 from the floor in the first 20 minutes. St. Benedict was equally bad from the field, making 8-of-30 from the field, but forced the Pipers into 17 first half turnovers.
The Blazers put the game away in the second half, shooting 38.5 percent from the floor (15-39).
The Blazers were paced by Ellie Boone's 12 points and 10 rebounds. Nicki Carter and Judy Falvey each added nine points on three three-pointers. St. Benedict hit 10-of-29 three-pointers in the contest.
Hamline sophomore Grace Weinreich scored seven points. Jess Heinen and Ashlee Senser each totaled six points in the contest.
