Senior guard Erin Sanvidge (Catholic Central/Troy) recorded a team-high 15 points and seven assists. Senior guard Sue Kelley (Bethlehem Central/Delmar) scored 14 points and sophomore guard Amy Smith (Dover/Dover, N.H.) posted 13 points. Junior forward Erika Steele (Hopkinton/Hopkinton, Mass.) scored 10 points and led the team defensively with nine rebounds and five blocks. Junior guard Brynn Fessette (Seton Catholic Central/Plattsburgh) also scored ten points, while grabbing six rebounds.
Junior forward Ashley Dean (Horseheads/Horseheads)lead St. John Fisher with 17 points. Junior forward Allison Boehm (Sacred Heart/Cheektowaga)recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and grabbing a game-high 10 boards. Freshman center Mary Kate Comfort (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) was also in double-digits with 10 points.
Despite falling behind 36-32 at the end of the first half, the Bombers went on a 12-1 run over a 4:21 span early in the second half to take the lead. The Bombers lead as much as 11 points in the second before St. John Fisher closed the score to within three with 3:21 remaining. However, the Bombers held onto the lead and came away with a 76-69 victory.
The Bombers remain atop of the Empire 8 with a 6-1 conference record, while St. John Fisher remains in the middle of the conference with a 4-3 record.
The Bombers take their six-game winning streak–the longest since the 2004-05 season–to Oneonta Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game.
