Pitt-Bradford 79, La Roche 68

ALFRED, NY —
The Alfred University men’s basketball team increased their Empire 8 record to 4-3 by beating visiting Elmira College, 73-58, Saturday afternoon at the McLane Center.

The Saxons played very aggressively on the boards all game outrebounding Elmira 44-30. Freshman forward Pat Smithgall played solidly on the glass, grabbing11 rebounds, which give him a team-high 157 on the year (9.8 per game). 	

Alfred (6-11, 4-3 Empire 8) had four players score in double figures with Smithgall leading the way with a double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds). Junior guard Garlen Patt drained three shots from behind the arc and finished with 13 points. Senior point guard Robby McCarter and senior center Dillon Stein both added 12 points. 

The Soaring Eagles (2-16, 1-6) were paced by Nick Woitach, who had a team-high 18 points while Jon Adamson tallied 11points.

Alfred is in action next on Friday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m. at home against RIT.
