The Alfred University women’s basketball team lost at home, 56-46, to conference rival St. John Fisher Tuesday evening.
Alfred (4-12, 0-5 Empire 8) struggled from the floor in the first half shooting only 18 percent. Turnovers were also a factor in the first half as the Saxons committed 12 to the Cardinal’s four, and trailed at intermission 33-14.
Freshman guard Lisa Button led three AU players in double figures with 13 points. Sophomore guard Melanie Jackson added 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds while freshman guard Abbey Schaffnit tallied 11 points (2 for 3 from three point range).
Allison Boehm had a team-high 13 points and six assists to lead the Cardinal offense. Ashley Dean finished with 11 points and four rebounds.
Alfred is in action next on Friday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. at home against Ithaca College.
