St. Norbert 69, Monmouth 49

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Tommie Bryan Schnettler scored 24 points - 19 in the first half - to lead St. Thomas to an 81-66 victory over Hamline Monday night at Hutton Arena.

Schnettler shot 7-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc for St. Thomas (5-0, 3-0 in the MIAC), who shot 68.4 percent in the first half (13-19) and 59.6 percent for the game (28-47).

Hamline (1-4, 0-2) was paced by senior Sam Wiener's 15 points. Kyle Foster added 14 points and six rebounds for the Pipers.

Mike Keating added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Tommies. Brett Tuma came off the bench to score 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

Two of the most explosive scorers in the conference were held in check for most of the game. Jon DeRock, the MIAC's leading scorer with 24.5 points per game, was held to 11 points. Reigning MIAC Most Valuable Player Isaac Rosefelt netted just eight points, but added 10 rebounds and three blocks.

The Pipers led for most of the first half, but St. Thomas closed the half on a 16-1 run. Schnettler netted 12 points during the spurt that lasted 5:33.

Hamline cut the lead to six in the second half, but could get no closer.
