SSC (14-2, 5-0 in the MASCAC) led 48-42 at the break and never looked back in winning its seventh straight game and 13th in its last 14 tries. The Vikings received a complete team effort in defeating the Bears (11-5, 4-1 MASCAC). BSC also saw its modest four-game winning streak come to an end.
The Vikings were led by six double-figure scorers. Tops was senior swingman Eric Downie (Medford) with 23 followed by sophomore center Dylan Holmes (Groton), junior guard Marquis Victor (Lawrence) and senior forward Brandon McCombs (Springfield) with 14 each. Junior guard Ramon Cruz (Worcester) and freshman guard Nick Tokarski (Springfield) finished with 11 and 10, respectively.
McCombs and Downie shared the rebounding lead with 11 apiece while Tokarski dished out a team-high six assists, and Holmes contributed nine boards and blocked a game-high three shots.
The Bears were led by senior forward Derek Thompson's (Hyannis) 20 points. Senior guard Adam Rose (Harwich) and sophomore forward Roland Millien (Stoughton) registered 15 and 11 points, respectively.
SSC's next game will be Saturday (1/27) at Worcester State College at 4:00 pm. Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday as the Bears head to Fitchburg State to take on the Falcons at 3.
