PITTSBURGH — Chatham Wins Conference Opener By 30

PITTSBURGH (December 2, 2006) … Four players reached double figures as the Chatham College Women’s Basketball team never trailed in a 66-36 victory over visiting Wilson College in the Atlantic Women’s Colleges Conference (AWCC) opener for both teams. It is the first time in Chatham’s nine years in the AWCC that they were victorious in the conference opener.

Chatham (2-4, 1-0) used a 25-4 run over the last 8:22 of the first half to build a 39-14 halftime lead. Wilson never got within 22 points of the lead in the second half, as Chatham cruised to its second consecutive victory.

Sophomore Erica Bilski (Pittsburgh, PA/Seton-La Salle) notched a game-high 20 points, including four three-point field goals, and added five assists. Fellow sophomore Allason Holt (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) recorded a ‘double-double’ with a career-high 15 points, and a game-high 12 rebounds. First-years Brittany Brown (Bellefontaine, OH/Bellefontaine) and Amanda Vranka (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) scored 14 and 12 points respectively, while fellow newcomer Danielle Pais (Pittsburgh, PA/Seton-La Salle) tied a single-game school record with eight steals, set by Tara Viti at Hood College on February 5th, 2004.

Wilson (1-6, 0-1) was led by Dana Bennett with 11 points, and Mary Miller with 10.

Chatham will look to extend their win streak to three when they return to action on Tuesday, December 5th when they host Bethany College in a non-conference match up. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
