BRUNSWICK, Maine — Forwards Eileen Flaherty and Jill Anelauskas scored 15 points apiece to lead the Bowdoin College women\'s basketball team to a 65-40 victory in a battle of nationally-ranked squads on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears (5-0), ranked first in the latest D3Hoops.com National Poll, extend the nation\'s longest home-court winning streak to 72 games- the third longest in Division III Women\'s Basketball history. Southern Maine (3-1) is ranked third in the nation and falls for the first time this season.

The teams traded buckets in the early going and were deadlocked at six apiece after five minutes of play. Bowdoin then took control of the game as Marisa Berne buried a three-pointer from the wing to spark a 14-2 run that also featured five straight points from Flaherty. Bowdoin added to their lead with consecutive trifectas from Berne and Anelauskas later in the period and led by 17 points at intermission, 37-20, thanks to 53% shooting from the field.

Southern Maine chipped away at the Polar Bear lead in the second frame, and when Nicole Paradis hit a three-pointer from the wing with 10:49 to play, the Huskies trailed by just seven points. But Berne responded with another huge three-pointer to push the lead back to double-figures and an 11-1 run later in the half sealed the victory for Bowdoin.

Flaherty added a dozen rebounds to go with her 15 points, while Anelauskas pitched in eight boards. Berne scored 12 points, while Sabrina Cote tossed in eight off the bench for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin held Southern Maine to 32% shooting for the game, and never led by less than seven points for the final 30 minutes of the contest.

Paradis led the Huskies with 11 points, and was the only player in double-digits. Leading scorer Ashley Marble scored five points on 1-for-11 shooting from the field.

Bowdoin will host Rensselaer on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Southern Maine will host UMass-Dartmouth at 1:00 p.m.
