HOLLAND, Mich. — Jim Cash came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points and Drew Yancey added 11 points as the Albion College men’s basketball team was defeated by 11th-ranked Hope College, 94-58, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game played at the DeVos Fieldhouse Wednesday night.

Albion trailed 8-6 when Yancey knocked down a jumper four minutes into the game. The Britons had an opportunity to tie the score when they got a stop on the defensive end, but misfired on shot from 3-point range.

Hope scored on its next two possessions – a jumper from Stephen Cramer and a 3-point goal from Derek Van Solkema – to build the margin to seven, 13-6, with 15 minutes left in the first half. Cramer’s jumper gave the Flying Dutchmen a double-digit lead 6 ½ minutes into the contest. Cramer and Jesse Reimink paced Hope with 15 points apiece. Van Solkema added 14.

Cash, who also grabbed six rebounds for Albion, scored on 6-of-11 shots from the field. Yancey was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Evan Way grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the Britons.

Albion returns home to face Alma College on Saturday. The action begins with the junior varsity game at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity contest at 3 p.m.
