The SUNY Potsdam women’s basketball team fell to
Brockport, 59-42, in its second SUNYAC game of the weekend. Junior Katie
Buzzell (Rochester/Greece Athena) and sophomore Maureen Curley
(Madrid/Madrid-Waddington) were the Bears’ leading scorers with seven
points apiece.
Curley also finished with eight rebounds for Potsdam (3-3, 0-2), which was
unable to recover from a first half in which it committed 19 turnovers.
Freshman Cortney Poirier (Moira/Brushton-Moira) added seven rebounds while
Buzzell made five assists.
Brockport junior Kim Schon (Lockport/Lockport) led all scorers with 16
points. Fellow juniors Courtney Hines (Johnstown/Johnstown) and Ashley
Broadhurst (Sauquoit/Utica-Notre Dame) added nine points and seven
assists, respectively, for the Eagles (5-0, 2-0).
Potsdam will return to action on Tuesday night (December 5) when it hosts
North Country rival St. Lawrence University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6
p.m.
