POTSDAM, N.Y. — The SUNY Potsdam men’s basketball team remained winless against fellow North Country schools – falling to undefeated St. Lawrence University, 76-60, at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. Freshman Anthony Williams Jr. (Brentwood/Upper Room Christian) led the Bears with 18 points and three steals.

Junior Devin Taft (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) came off the bench to score 12 points for Potsdam (2-5, 1-1 SUNYAC). Sophomore Damon Brown (Staten Island/Port Richmond) added nine rebounds.

Senior Tim Reinhardt (Hilton/Hilton), who is a key player in Potsdam’s inside game, was out with a broken nose. He was sorely missed as St. Lawrence won the rebounding battle, 45-36, and limited the Bears inside the paint.

St. Lawrence sophomore Bela Vonnak (Canajoharie/Canajoharie) dominated the inside game with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Tyler Shaver (Ogdensburg/OFA) added 14 points and six assists while sophomore Ben Augliano (Clayton/Thousand Islands) contributed 10 points.

The Bears will return to action this weekend when they play at home against Alfred (Friday, 8 p.m.) and Ithaca (Saturday, 4 p.m.).
