Freshman Cortney Poirier (Moira/Brushton-Moira) scored nine points while fellow freshman Sarah Casey (Potsdam/Potsdam) contributed eight points and six rebounds in front of an attendance dominated by local girls' basketball teams. Several North Country high schools were represented -- some of whom were watching their alumnae on the floor.
SUNYIT (6-15, 2-10) was led by Ann-Marie Spaulding, who scored 10 points. Junior Jen Vergis (Herkimer/RFA) added nine rebounds.
Potsdam will resume its SUNYAC schedule this weekend on the road. It will take on Brockport (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Geneseo (Saturday, 2 p.m.).
