Curley had 14 points and 14 rebounds while classmate Roberta Gibson (Brooklyn/Midwood) led Bears’ scorers with 16 points. Hannah Fairchild (Brushton/Brushton-Moira), also a sophomore, added 14 points for Potsdam (6-8, 1-4 SUNYAC).
With 20 seconds left in the game, Fairchild made a free throw to put Potsdam up, 65-64. Then, after Skidmore freshman Sharlyn Harper (New York/Holderness) missed a 3-pointer, sophomore Laura Michel (Middle Village/Christ the King) collected the offensive rebound and the Thoroughbreds (7-6) called timeout. Following the stoppage, Michel received an inbounds pass and nailed the game-winning jumper with1.5 seconds to go.
Senior Krystal Coke (Brooklyn/Poly Prep Country Day) led Skidmore with 16 points and seven rebounds. Harper added 10 points.
The Bears will resume SUNYAC play this weekend when they travel to Western New York. During the trip, Potsdam will visit Buffalo State (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Fredonia (Saturday, 2 p.m.).
