Bridgewater, winner of three straight games, is now 3-0 in the MASCAC and 8-6 overall. The Trailblazers fall to 5-7 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
The Bears were led by the outstanding play of junior forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI), senior forward Catie Furtado (Taunton, MA) and junior guard Caitlin Feeney (Providence, RI). Colleen Feeney posted her third consecutive double-double as she finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds while also blocking 4 shots. Furtado also connected for 17 points to go along with 6 boards and 2 blocked shots. Caitlin Feeney added 14 points, 6 assists and 2 steals.
BSC was locked in a tight game for the first 16 minutes as the Bears led 28-24 with 3:58 remaining in the first half. Bridgewater then proceeded to go on a 12-0 run to close out the opening half as they took a 40-24 lead into the locker room. BSC never looked back from that point on as the Bears quickly built the lead up over 20 points early in the second half and led by as many as 29.
The Bears shot 44% (31-for-70) from the floor while limiting MCLA to just 25% (16-for-63) shooting. Bridgewater also blocked a season-high 12 shots, registered 18 steals and forced 29 Trailblazer turnovers. All 13 players who dressed for the Bears played at least 6 minutes with 11 of the 13 scoring at least 2 points.
Junior guard Taylor Kenyon (North Bennington, VT) led the way for MCLA as she scored 11 points to go along 5 rebounds. Freshman forward Laura Silverman (Ballston Lake, NY) added 7 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, 9 of which came off the offensive glass.
Bridgewater will be back in action on Thursday night as the Bears head to UMass-Boston for a 5:30 non-conference game with the Beacons. MCLA is on the road for the third straight game as the Trailblazers take on Russell Sage College on Wednesday night at 7.
