Laker senior Mat Burridge scored 16 points, and his 12th point of the night, which came on a free throw with 10:39 remaining in the second half, was the 1,000th point in his Oswego State career. Burridge, a native of Hannibal, is the 12th player in the program's history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
The game was also a reversal of recent fortunes for the Lakers, who had lost their previous four games, all by four points or less. This close victory improved Oswego State's record to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC. Plattsburgh dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Todd Franze, who scored a game-high 21 points, made a layup with 52 seconds left to put Oswego State ahead 74-69. The Cardinals came right back down the court and Antwane Miller made a layup, then stole the ball and made another layup to make the score 74-73. After another Oswego State turnover, Plattsburgh had possession, but Travis Gorham was called for an offensive foul on his post move with 11 seconds left.
Erik Roberson made one-of-two free throws for the Lakers to stretch the lead to two points, and a long 3-pointer by Anthony Williams at the buzzer hit the back iron.
Franze was Oswego State's leading scorer, and Kyle Reuter added 17 points to complement Burridge's 16 point, nine rebound effort. Tom Downing added 10 points as the Lakers outscored the Cardinals 16-9 from the free-throw line in the game.
Plattsburgh was led by 20 points from Williams, 18 from Antwane Miller, and 16 from Travis Gorham.
