KING'S POSTS 76-50 WIN OVER URSINUS AT RAMADA INN CLASSIC

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College used a balanced attack with four double-figure scorers and shot 53.2 percent from the field as the Monarchs posted a 76-50 victory over Ursinus College on the second day of King's own Ramada Inn/Monarch Classic Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's improved to 6-5 on the year while Ursinus slipped to 5-3. The victory also gave King's junior guard Jamie Cousart a win in his first-ever game against younger brother Remy, a freshman guard at Ursinus.

King's, which never trailed in the game, got off to a fast start when a bucket by Vince Scalzo and consecutive three-pointers from Kofi Dwebeng and Jamie Cousart gave the Monarchs an 8-0 lead.

After Ursinus cut he gap to 10-4, the Monarchs went on a 5-0 spurt when Vince Sobocinski made one-of-two foul shots, and Dwebeng and John Soboleski added baskets to give King's a 15-4 advantage with 13:43 on the clock. Both teams would then struggle offensively but King's slowly extended the lead to 23-8 on a three-pointer from Jamie Cousart with 6:04 left in the half.

The Monarchs would eventually take a 25-10 lead on a lay-up from Bob Nenstiel at 3:38. King's would then take its biggest lead of the first half into the locker room when Jamie Cousart added another trey to give the Monarchs a 30-14 lead at the break.

King's made 47.8 (11-23) percent of its shots from the field in the first half, compared to 21.4 (6-28) percent for Ursinus. Jamie Cousart led the Monarchs with nine points while Nenstiel added six. Matt Fabian led the Bears with six first-half points.

In the second stanza King's kept on the pressure and continued to build upon its lead. Two straight three-pointers from Sobocinski and Jim Welsh would give the Monarchs a 38-17 with 14:58 remaining. King's would later take its biggest lead of the game at 56-28 on a three-pointer by Jared Black with 11:09 left in the contest. The closest Ursinus would come the rest of the way was 19 points on a Matt Howell bucket with 2:08 left, bringing the score to 69-50.

King's scorched the nets in the second half, making 58.3 (14-24) percent of its shots, including 56.3 (9-16) from three-point range. Ursinus finished up the game with a 33.9 (20-59) percent after making 45.2 (14-31) percent in the second half.
