The Bengals (2-1) scored 19 points off 20 W&J turnovers to earn the win. BSU never trailed in the contest after jumping out to an early 4-0 lead.
Senior guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) connected on a three-pointer to force an 18-18 tie at the 13:15 mark, but the Bengals used a 15-7 stretch late in the first half to post a 51-42 halftime edge.
The Presidents were able to trim the deficit to four points three times in the second half. Senior guard Brandon Studer\'s (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh Valley) jumper with 3:50 remaining brought W&J to within 69-65, but the Bengals scored nine of the next 12 points to earn the 12-point win.
Buffalo State shot 51 percent (29-of-57) for the game and had 11 different players score at least one basket. Kharey Wood added 13 points and five rebounds for BSU which was out-rebounded by a 36-34 margin.
Studer paced the Presidents with 24 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Koch added 16 points, three assists and three rebounds, while junior forward Greg Stuckey (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) and sophomore center Josip Lucic-Jozak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) netted 14 and 11 points, respectively.
The Presidents, who were limited to 36 percent (21-of-59) from the field, will attempt to earn their first win of the 2006-07 campaign when hosting Kenyon on Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
