DANBURY, CT — Mallory Stevens (Seymour, CT) and Stacey Roberts (Windham, CT) each scored 15 points as Western Connecticut State University cruised to a 66-23 victory over Russell Sage College at Feldman Arena Thursday night.
The Colonials, now 9-5, raced out to a 28-0 lead before the Gators got on the scoreboard with 5:31 remaining in the first half. Russell Sage would go on to score 10 of the game's next 11 points before intermission but would not challenge in the second stanza.
Isabella Henry (Coram, NY) added nine points and collected a game-high nine rebounds for the winners.
The Gators, 0-10, were led by Ashley Wetherell (Dalton, MA), who scored 10 points.
The Colonials had a 50-31 advantage on the boards.
WestConn travels to University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday for a doubleheader with the men against the Corsairs. Tip off is slated for 1 p.m.
