With the game tied at 3-3, the Greyhounds put together a 15-0 run to take an 18-3 lead with 11:25 remaining in the first half. The Devils, who lost their second straight game after opening the season with a five-game winning streak, responded with a 12-2 run to cut Moravian's lead to 20-15 with 8:44 until the intermission; however, the Greyhounds quickly scored seven points to put the lead back in double digits for the rest of the game with a 27-15 lead with 7:01 left in the first half.
Moravian shot extremely well in the first half, making 16 of 27 field goal attempts (59.3 percent), eight of 14 three-pointers (57.1 percent) and five of eight from the free throw line (62.5 percent). The Devils were just ten of 26 from the floor, three of five on three-pointers and six of 11 from the foul line. The Greyhounds had an 18-15 advantage on the boards in the first 20 minutes while both teams committed 12 turnovers.
Moravian stretched the lead to 27 points several times in the second half and led 85-59 when the Greyhounds scored their final points with 3:12 left in the contest. Moravian was just ten of 35 from the field (28.6 percent) and one of 12 behind the three-point line; however, the Greyhounds made 19 of 23 free throws (82.6 percent) in the second half. FDU-Florham made 11 of 34 field goals, four of 12 three-pointers and 12 of 17 free throws after the intermission. The Greyhounds had a 47-39 advantage in rebounds in the victory.
Moravian had three players score in double figures led by 17 points by junior forward Eric Whitman, who also had six rebounds. Junior guard Ryan Miller tossed in 13 points to go with three assists and three rebounds while senior guard Michael Clemente had 12 points and four assists for the Greyhounds.
Junior forward Steve Wenderfer, junior forward Mark Franzyshen and senior forward Matt Delvin each tossed in nine points for Moravian with Wenderfer contributing five rebounds. Devlin added team highs of seven rebounds and three blocked shots while Franzyshen had three boards. Freshman forward Eric Weaver had six points and five rebounds for the Greyhounds while junior forward Chris Earley had six rebounds, two points and a pair of blocked shots in the win. Junior guard Greg Jones dished out a team high six assists to go with three points, three steals and two rebounds for Moravian while sophomore forward Dave Bowden had three points and three rebounds.
Sophomore guard Ryan McPherson led the Devils with a game high 18 points, and he added five rebounds and five steals. Senior forward Pierre Schmitt netted 12 points and grabbed four rebounds for FDU-Florham while senior guard Frank Emsile and sophomore forward Andrew Biancosino each scored nine points. Emsile dished out a game high seven assists to go with four rebounds while Biancosino grabbed a game high eight rebounds. Senior guard Cody Chalmers added seven points for the Devils.
