HOBOKEN, N.J. — Freshman forward Brittany Fuller (East Rockaway, N.Y.) poured in a game-high 19 points as the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on the year with a 63-46 win over Fairleigh Dickinson University on Tuesday at the Canavan Arena in Hoboken, N.J. Junior forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo.) shot 8-for-13 from the floor and finished with a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds).

Tied at 4-all early in the game, Stevens used a 17-2 run over the course of a nine-minute stretch to grab a 21-6 lead with 9:14 remaining in the first half. Fuller had eight points in the spurt, and freshman guard/forward Sarah Gehring (Spokane, Wash.) contributed a key three-pointer. The Ducks led by as many as 17 points (29-12) in the opening stanza.

FDU climbed its way back into the game in the second half as the Devils (1-2) closed to within 36-29 on a jumper by sophomore guard Emily Cerankowski (Easton, Pa.) with 18:14 remaining. The Ducks responded with a quick 8-0 burst in the span of 1:04 to reestablish a 15-point cushion. Following back-to-back three-pointers by junior guard Jean Matusiak (Queens, N.Y.) and Fuller, Enright scored inside to give Stevens a 44-29 lead.

Matusiak finished with 13 points on six of 12 shooting from the floor. She also had four assists and three steals. Sophomore guard Dani Dudek (Rockaway, N.J.) contributed 11 assists, seven rebounds, five points and three steals in the game.

Senior guard Jessie Chalmers (Middletown, N.J.) led the way for FDU with 15 points and four rebounds. Freshman forward Danielle Michlovsky (Wind Gap, Pa.) and Cerankowski had nine points and six rebounds apiece.

Stevens forced 21 turnovers and held the Devils to 31.3 percent shooting (15-for-48) from the field. The Ducks converted 42.2 percent (27-for-64) of their field-goal attempts.

Stevens will be back in action on Monday when it travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on Vassar College in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
