MADISON, NJ — Senior guard Frank Emslie (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) had 19 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists as the College at Florham Devils knocked off Briarcliffe, 92-61, on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-4 on the season.

FDU jumped out to a 14-3 with 16:49 left in the first half behind five points from Emslie. Briarcliffe fought back to tie the score, 20-20, with 8:52 remaining in the half but the Devils responded with an 18-0 run to take a 38-20 lead with 5:10 left. Sophomore guard Ryan McPherson (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) had seven points in the spurt while Emslie contributed six points. FDU took a 49-29 lead into halftime.

The Seahawks got within 18 points a one point in the second half before the Devils finished out the game strong.

β€œI thought we were very sloppy tonight, which is to be expected with a three week break,” said assistant coach Bill Zotti. β€œIt was good that we worked out the kinks before we embark on a tough two game tournament this weekend in Virginia. We know that we must execute a lot better than we did tonight in order to reach our goals for the season.”

McPherson finished with 17 points while senior guard Brian Dillon (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) and senior forward Pierre Schmitt (Park Ridge, NJ/Park Ridge) each had 12 points. Senior center Brian Rimol (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) had nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds while senior guard Cody Chalmers (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) ripped down 11 boards off the bench.

The Devils return to action on Friday, January 3, in the Marymount Tournament against Wentworth Tech beginning at 2 pm.
