The victory improves Baruch to 2-2 overall, while the Devils from FDU-Florham drop to 1-3.
Both teams shot well this afternoon with Baruch going 29-58 (50%), while FDU-Florham was a point better at 29-57 (51%).
The game was another tightly contested affair with Baruch up, 62-60, with 7:55 left, but they built a 9-1 run for a 71-61 lead with 5:30 left. Jody Trapp (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) highlighted the big run with a 3-pointer and pair of free throws for the biggest lead of the afternoon.
However, FDU-Florham climbed back into the game with a 10-4 run of their own to cut the lead to 75-71 with 1:15 remaining. Emily Cerankowski (East, Penn./Notre Dame) was the factor in that run nailing a 3-pointer and three of four free throws.
The Bearcats would hold on to the victory by hitting six-of-eight free throws in the final 53 seconds to seal the home victory.
Dominique McClendon (Chicago, III/Seaside) had a big game for the Bearcats with a season-high 29-points (12-15 fg), six rebounds, and four steals, while Trapp finished with 18 points.
Racquel Reid (New York, N.Y./Washington Irving) scored 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Ceranowski led the visiting Devils with 17 points (4-7, 3fg). Junior point guard Kate Daly (South River, N.J./South River) scored eight points (2-2, 3fg), seven assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Baruch will return to action this Friday night in northern California by participating in the Cal State East Bay Tournament. They will open with an 8:00 p.m. (ET) contest against Chapman University.
