SUNYIT 58, Utica 56

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - — Host Lycoming College erased a six-point halftime deficit and downed visiting Shenandoah 67-58 in non-conference men's basketball action Thursday night.

Shenandoah (3-4) led 35-29 at the break and by as many as seven points early in the second before Lycoming (6-4) staged its comeback.

Trailing 49-44 with 11:54 remaining, the Warriors scored seven of the game's next eight points to take a 51-50 lead with 6:37 left. LC would hold this lead for the remainder of the contest, and eventually extended to eight points on three different occasions before Kevin Morris gave them the nine-point win with a pair of free throws a the 21-second mark.

The Hornets shot a season-best 62.5 percent (10 for 16) in the first half, but could only make 7 of 29 attempts (24.1 percent) after the break. As SU went cold from the field, Lyco shot a sizzling 71.4 percent (15 of 21) to complete the comeback.

The victory gives the Warriors a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series.

Junior Jeremiah Lawrence led Shenandoah with 20 points while senior Moutkar Fawehinmi had 14 and Lenzie Adams 11. SU was without the services of senior Onyie Onunaku, who sprained his ankle on Monday against Guilford College. His status is currently day-to-day.

Greg Sye had 24 points and David Wilson 16 for the hosts.

The Hornets are off for the next eight days for Christmas break and return to action on December 29 against Hampden-Sydney in the first round of the Hampden-Sydney Tournament. N.J. City and St. Vincent round out the tournament.
