DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Isaiah Pinckney scored a game-high 29 points and, in the process, moved into sixth place on the Delaware Valley College all-time scoring list as the Aggies downed visiting Drew University, 59-54, in a Freedom Conference game.

Delaware Valley improved to 5-17 overall and 3-8 in the conference while the Rangers fell to 9-12 overall and 4-7 in the Freedom.

Pinckney scored 16 of his 29 in the first half. He upped his career total to 1,382 points and moved past 1989 graduate Joe Butts (1,377 points). With three games remaining, Pinckney has chance to for fifth place and 1977 graduate Dennis Pastucha’s total (1,427).

The Aggies took the lead midway through the first half as they went on a 7-0 run, including five by Pinckney, for a 22-15 advantage. They eventually took a 33-30 lead into the intermission.

Delaware Valley used another 7-0 spurt, this time five by Eric Lawton, to build its largest lead of the game at 10, 47-37, with 11:34 remaining. Drew responded with six straight but the Aggies upped the advantage back to seven, 51-44, with 6:11 remaining.

However, the Rangers tied the game with a 7-0 spurt of their own, including a three-point play by David Cramer that made it 51-51 with 3:45 left. Zack Van Dyke hit one free throw and Pinckney sank a pair as Delaware Valley regained the lead for good with 2:33 to go.

Cramer hit one free throw for a two-point game but a Brian Hillinski free throw with 2:04 remaining and a Lawton layup with 41 seconds left, gave Delaware Valley a 57-52 advantage. Chris Lopez made it a one-possession ballgame as he connected on a pair of free throws with 16 ticks to go, and Drew fouled Pinckney with no time elapsing.

Pinckney hit just one of two foul shots, but Drew turned the ball over on its possession. Pinckney was fouled again with two seconds left and he hit one shot for the 59-54 final.

In addition to Pinckney, Lawton hit double figures with 13 points. Ryan Thomas came off the bench for seven points and five boards.

Cramer finished with 17 points to lead the Rangers. Bob Carella and Bill Marano added 13 and 11 respectively.
