It was the sixth consecutive wins for the Bears as they upped their mark to 13-7 on the season. The Aggies fell to 8-11 and will return to Freedom Conference action on Saturday, February 3 when they travel to Wilkes University.
Delaware Valley held a 75-73 lead as Shannon O’Neill hit a pair of free throws with 1:24 remaining in regulation. Both teams missed opportunities leading to the Bears having the ball with under 20 seconds to go. Daley drove the right baseline and her leaner hit high off the glass and went in to tie the game with 11.9 seconds remaining.
The Aggies came down the court and could not get a good look for the potential game-winning basket. Moira Donohue threw up a long 3-pointer but it was way short and went out of bounds, sending the game to overtime.
Kate McMahon opened the extra stanza with a 3-pointer and a 78-75 Ursinus lead. Delaware Valley then scored four straight as O’Neill converted a pair of free throws with 3:45 remaining and Donohue drove in for a layup just 44 seconds later for a 79-78 advantage.
Neither team could score for nearly two and a half minutes before Daley drained a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left to give the Bears the lead for good at 81-79. The Aggies’ next possession saw Brooke Dittmar miss a layup and Ursinus’ Sarah Hennessey was fouled with 14.6 seconds to go. Hennessey calmly hit both foul shots for a four-point land and she later hit two more following a missed 3-pointer by O’Neill to put the game away.
Delaware Valley shot 59.3 percent from the field in the first half, including a 69.2 percent effort from beyond the arc, to build a 43-32 advantage. O’Neill scored 18 points, helped by a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point land, and dished out five assists in those first 20 minutes.
However, the inside tandem of Konstanzer and Molly Guntli brought the Bears back in the second half as the two combined for 24 points in the stanza. The Aggies still held a 10-point lead, 52-42 with 13:39 remaining, before Ursinus scored 11 straight for a one-point advantage. The teams then traded the lead seven times down the stretch in the second half before Daley sent the game to overtime.
Konstanzer finished 11-for-13 from the field, en route to her 24-point point performance. She also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as Ursinus held a 38-22 advantage on the boards. Guntli finished with 18 points and seven rebounds while Hennessey and Daley added 15 and 13 points respectively.
O’Neill played all 45 minutes and ended with 24 points and nine assists. Donohue added 19 points and five assists while Dittmar and Kim Vennera netted 10 points apiece.
