The Rangers took an early four-point advantage, 8-4 with just 2:18 gone off the clock; however, the Greyhounds responded with a 12-2 run to take a 16-10 lead with 14:27 remaining in the first half. The six-point edge was Moravian's largest of the first half. Drew answered with a 9-0 run, taking a 19-16 lead with 12:38 left in the first 20 minutes and the teams would go back-and-forth for the remainder of the first half with the Greyhounds pushing the lead to five points twice and heading to the locker room with a 38-37 lead.
Moravian connected on 16 of 38 field goal attempts (42.1 percent), one of four three-pointers and five of six free throws (83.3 percent) in the first 20 minutes of action while the Rangers were 15 of 29 from the floor, four of ten behind the three-point line and three-for-three at the foul line. Drew held a 19-18 advantage in rebounds in the first half; however, the Rangers had 13 first half turnovers to five turnovers for Moravian.
The Greyhounds pushed the lead to three points in the first minute of the second half before Drew had a 9-2 run to take a 46-42 lead with 16:23 remaining in regulation. Moravian then turned in a 13-4 run to take a 55-50 lead with 11:12 left in the second half. The Greyhounds' lead eventually hit eight on three occasions, the final time at 75-67 with 2:07 left in regulation; however, Moravian scored just one point the rest of the way and missed three of four free throws in the final 22 seconds as the Rangers tied the contest on a three-pointer by senior guard Melissa Kraft with seven seconds left.
The Greyhounds scored the first points of the five-minute overtime on a put back by freshman guard Kate Harrison and Moravian led the entire overtime period. In the second half and overtime, Moravian made 17 of 34 field goal attempts and 15 of 21 free throws while Drew was 18 of 42 from the floor, four of 11 on three-pointers and eight for 12 at the foul line after halftime. Drew did have a 46-38 advantage in rebounds in the contest; however, the Rangers made 20 turnovers to just nine for the Greyhounds.
Moravian had four players in double figures led by senior forward Kelly Applegate with a game high 25 points. Applegate also had a career high assists while grabbing seven rebounds to move into tenth all-time at Moravian with 554 career rebounds. Senior forward Jenny Hackleman netted 14 points for the Greyhounds in her first start of the season, and she added two assists and two steals.
Harrison and junior guard La'Toya Blake each scored 11 points for Moravian; the first time in Blake's career she hit double figures. Harrison added four rebounds and three assists while Blake had three boards and two steals. Freshman guard Jessica Foran had eight points, five rebounds and two assists in the win while freshmen forward Kirsty Stearns and Alyssa Bisci and guard Amanda Brown all scored six points. Stearns added a team high eight rebounds for Moravian while Bisci had four assists and four boards.
Kraft led four Rangers in double figures with 21 points, and she contributed five rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Courtney Cunningham had a double-double including 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and she added four assists.
Senior guard Maggie Marquis netted 17 points to go with seven assists and four rebounds while sophomore forward/center Laura Methvin had a double-double for Drew with 13 points and ten rebounds. Sophomore forward/guard Stephanie Leondis had nine points and seven rebounds for the Rangers.
Moravian returns to action on Wednesday, December 6th in a non-conference game at nationally-ranked The University of Scranton beginning at 7:00 p.m. while Drew will host Muhlenberg College in a non-conference game on December 7th at 6:00 p.m.
