NEW YORK — Sophomore forward Jessica McEntee compiled career bests of 18 points and 19 rebounds for second consecutive double-double as New York University, ranked #15 in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Poll, produced a 66-45 victory over Drew University in non-conference action Saturday at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

Senior guard Adrienne Rochetti added 15 points for the Violets (6-0), who triumphed despite shooting just 30.1% (22-73) from the floor. NYU, however, did own a 60-31 edge on the glass, including 27 offensive caroms.

McEntee recorded a double-double in the first half, finishing the first stanza with 12 points and 14 rebounds, as the Violets held the Rangers (5-4) to 24.0% shooting (6-25) to take a 39-14 lead into the locker room. McEntee and sophomore forward Megan Fox each tallied four points during a 12-0 run as NYU seized a 22-6 lead 8:09 before halftime.

“Jess McEntee had a great day,” NYU head coach Janice Quinn said. “It was nice to see Jess and Adrienne Rochetti step up.”

Drew got a team-high 12 points from senior guard Courtney Cunningham and 10 points off the bench from junior guard Allison Hartnett. Sophomore center Laura Methvin snared a team-best 10 boards. The Rangers were held to 32.7% shooting (16-49), including 24.0% (6-25) in the opening half.

Junior guard Chelsea Trout finished with nine points, including three three-pointers, and sophomore guard Gena Brown added eight points and seven boards for the Violets.

NYU returns to action Monday, December 11, when it treks through the Holland Tunnel to face New Jersey City University at 7 pm.
