Manhattanville 72, Skidmore 67

MADISON, NJ — Four players reached double figures in scoring, led by Moira Donohue's 20 points as Delaware Valley College notched a crucial, 76-64 road victory over Drew University in a Freedom Conference game.

The win was the third straight for the Aggies as they improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Meanwhile the Rangers fell from the unbeaten ranks in Freedom action as they are 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Delaware Valley never trailed in the contest and the game was tied on just one occasion at 2-2 in the opening 90 seconds. The Aggies then scored 15 of the next 20 points, including eight by Donohue, for a 17-7 advantage with 12:20 remaining in the half.

Drew fought back and it a one-point ballgame, 25-24, with 5:39 left before intermission, The Rangers then had four opportunities to tie or take the lead but they missed a layup and a trio of 3-point shots.

Freshman Angela Mensch then helped Delaware Valley maintain its advantage as she scored eight of the team's final 10 points of the half and the Aggies led 35-31 at the break.

It was still a four-point contest three minutes into the second half when Delaware Valley erupted for an 18-7 run and its largest lead of the game, 55-40 with 8:05 to go. Senior Rachel Joyce paced the spurt with seven points.

The Aggie lead stayed mostly in double digits for the rest of the contest until a late Ranger rally made it 70-64 with 26 ticks left. However Brooke Dittmar hit a layup and Donohue and Shannon O'Neill hit a pair of free throws apiece for the 76-64 final.

Donohue added four assists and four steals to her team-high point total. Joyce notched 16 points and four rebounds and, in the process, moved into a tie with Andrea Shumack for fourth place on the Aggies's all-time rebounding list (644). Mensch was 4-for-4 from 3-point land and finished with a career-high 14 points in just 11 minutes of action. O'Neill also hit double figures with 10 points. Freshman guard Kim Vennera scored eight points and grabbed an Aggie season-high 19 rebounds.

Melissa Kraft had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Drew. Courtney Cunningham scored 12 points while Maggie Marquis and Laura Methvin added eight points apiece.
