Rutgers-Camden 86, Farmingdale State 71

Patchogue, NY — Senior Sedale Walton and sophomore Jeff Raimo combined to scored 34 points off the bench to lead the DeSales University men’s basketball team past Briarcliffe College, 76-58, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (7-2 overall) struggled thru most of the first half and actually trailed, 26-25, with 1:32 to play before ending the half on a 9-2 run to take a 34-28 lead into the locker room. Walton highlighted the run with four points including a three-pointer and Raimo added two on a lay-up. DSU opened the second half with a 17-6 run to lead, 51-34, and never really looked back after that. During the second half spurt seven different Bulldogs scored including Walton with a team-high four points.

DSU shot 46.2 percent from the field in the game and forced 23 Briarcliffe turnovers. Walton finished with a game-high 20 points to tie his career-high shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point land. Raimo’s 14 tallies was just two shy of tying his career-high as he shot 6-for-11 from the field and added a career-high six assists and seven rebounds.

Junior Phil Stricker recorded his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds and sophomore Ed Lapinski chipped in with eight points off the bench. Junior Eddie Ohlson did not score but had a strong game at the point with nine assists.
