CCNY 107, Mount Saint Vincent 65

Center Valley, PA — Senior Kirby Lutz and sophomore LeighAnn Burke combined for 47 points to lead the DeSales University women’s basketball team to its seventh straight win, 79-61, over Richard Stockton College on Monday evening in Billera Hall.

Lutz recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Burke totaled a game-high 25 points on 7-of-13 shooting and dished out a game-high five assists. The Bulldogs shot 42.4 percent for the game and forced 22 Osprey turnovers. DSU also canned 24-of-28 (85.7%) from the free throw line and out-rebounded RSC, 41-34, for the win.

Leading by just three, 26-23, the Bulldogs went on a 15-4 run to take a 14-point first-half lead. Burke and Lutz combined for all 15 points during the spurt including 10 by Burke and five by Lutz. A 21-8 run midway thru the second half put the game away, extending a nine-point advantage into DSU’s largest lead of the game, 69-47, with 6:47 left to play.

The win improves DeSales to 12-3 overall, while the Ospreys fall to 5-9 on the season. Sophomore Kim Rarick also reached double digits totaling 13 points and pulling down six rebounds and junior Jenna Stampf finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

RSC was led by Jenna Shenk with 12 points and Jenn Russell with nine points. Alicia Morris pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and had seven points in the loss.
