HARRISONBURG, VA — David Carlson poured in a season-high 27 points in leading Randolph-Macon College past Bridgewater College 64-63 Wednesday night in Harrisonburg, Va.

Carlson connected on 11-of-14 shots, including five three-pointers on the evening while pulling down a team-best seven rebounds. R-MC (9-6/4-4ODAC) got a strong contribution off the bench from Phil Hawley who tallied 12 points on four-of-nine shooting.

Bridgewater (4-8/1-5 ODAC) was led by Dominic Trawick who had a team best 23 points to lead three Eagles in double figures. Michael Oblitey had 12 points while Jay Strotman had 11 in a losing effort.

R-MC held a 31-30 lead at the intermission behind 12 first-half points from Carlson. The Yellow Jackets shot 13-of-22 from the floor for a 59.1 percentage at the break.

Trawick opened up the second-half scoring with a three-pointer to put the Eagles up 33-31 just 32 second into the second stanza.

The next 9:13 of play featured five ties and seven lead changes, before Carlson knocked down a jumper to put the Jackets up 50-49 with 10:15 left to play.

R-MC extended its lead to eight points (59-51) when Hawley made two shots from the charity stripe with 5:46 left on the clock.

After Hawley converted a lay up to make the score 64-58 with 2:50 left, Oblitey hit a three pointer to cut the R-MC lead to three.

After Carlson was called for an offensive foul on R-MC’s ensuing possession, BC’s Matt Drewer hit a jumper to make the score 64-63.

BC forced a turnover on R-MC’s next possession and had a chance to win the game but Trawick’s shot with three seconds left missed and the Yellow Jackets’ Adam Krovic corralled the rebound, giving the Jackets the win.

R-MC made 26-of-45 of its shots on the night for a shooting percentage of 57.8. BC connected on 25-of-56 (44.6%) shots on the night.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to No. 5 and ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan College for a 2:00 p.m. tip off.
