The Lady Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak as they improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Aggies fell to 1-3 and 0-1.
Lutz played all 40 minutes and was 9-for-17 from the field and 6-for-7 from the foul line. She keyed an 11-2 DeSales run by scoring nine points and upping the team’s lead from 19-17 to 30-19 with 4:10 remaining in the first half. The Lady Bulldogs eventually took a 35-27 advantage into the intermission.
In the second half, Delaware Valley trailed 40-29 before going on an 11-2 spurt of its own to make it a two-point contest with 14:15 remaining. However, DeSales responded with 13 of the game’s next 18 points and never looked back.
LeighAnn Bukre joined Lutz in double figures with 15 points. Amanda Kuperavage added eight points in the win.
Rachel Joyce paced the Aggies with 17 points and eight rebounds and the senior forward moved to within 10 points of the 1,000-point plateau for her career. Shannon O’Neill added 15 points and five assists while Kim Vennera notched 10 points, seven rebounds and four boards.
