R-MC (6-4) also got strong contributions from Phil Hawley, Stephen Sutherland and Justin Short who all had nine points in the win while Short dished out a game and career-high eight assists in the win.
Alfred (2-7) was led by Dillon Stein who posted a game-high 17 points in a losing effort. Robby McCarter joined Stein in double-digits with 10 points.
The Yellow Jackets got out of the gates quickly to take an early lead. With the score 8-7, R-MC used a 16-2 run to go up 24-9 with just over eight minutes left in the half.
A three-pointer by Adam Krovic with 4:58 put the Yellow Jackets up 31-12 before Alfred went on a 10-4 run to close out the half to cut the R-MC lead to 35-22 at the intermission.
The Yellow Jackets built on their lead at the start of the second-half and a three-pointer by Sutherland with 10:40 to play in the game put R-MC up 54-34. The lead grew to as many as 21 before Alfred managed to cut the lead to 11 in the later stages of the game.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday night when it will take on UW-Platteville at 8:00 p.m. in the championship of the tournament. Alfred will square off with Richard Stockton at 6:00 in the consolation game.
