ALPINE, Tx. — A 26-point, 15 rebound performance by Nitra Woods helped boost the Sul Ross Lady Lobos to a 75-57 conference win over visiting LeTourneau Thursday night.

Woods also converted 80 percent of her free throws hitting 8 for 10 from the foul line in the win. Danielle Furr supplied 13 points while Janice Mitchell contributed 12.

LETU’s Memrie Ferguson led the Lady Jackets with 23 points.

Sul Ross started strong from the floor in the first half shooting 57.1 percent. The Lady Lobos cooled in the second half at 33.3 percent to go 44.8 percent from the field for the game.

Sully took a 4-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play. LeTourneau tied the game twice at the 15:38 and 13:53 marks. The Lady Jackets knotted the contest again then took the lead on a 4-0 run. Sul Ross then assembled a 14-0 attack to regain the lead 26-17 with 5:10 left in the opening half. The Lady Lobos would increase the spread by 17 with under two minutes left until the break and went to the half sporting a 36-22 advantage.

The Lady Lobos then added a 13-4 run to start the second half which ended on a Furr 3-pointer with 15:16 left in regulation and Sul Ross up 49-26. LeTourneau never pulled within less than 18 points the rest of the way as Sully took the 75-57 final.

Sul Ross improves to 2-2 for the season and 1-1 in ASC play. The Lady Lobos will host East Texas Baptist in a 1:00 conference affair on Saturday.
