ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Elizabethtown improved to 3-5 overall Saturday night with an 84-71 home victory over King’s College (Pa.), which dropped to 4-4 overall with the loss.

Elizabethtown out-rebounded King’s 34-25, and the Blue Jays shot 57.1% (32-for-56) from the field and 47.1% (8-for-17) from three-point range.

Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) and Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) both led Elizabethtown in scoring with 18 points apiece. Schatzmann had seven rebounds to lead Etown in that category, and he shot 7-for-11 from the field and 3-for-6 from behind the arc. Brizek shot 8-for-11 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range. Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) added 15 points and six rebounds, and Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored 11 points for Etown. Brian Goodwin (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) led Elizabethtown in assists with five, and he scored seven points.

Vince Scalzo (Shickshinny, PA/Northwest Area) led King’s in scoring with 19 points and had four rebounds. Jim Welsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) added 15 points from off the bench for King’s as he shot 4-for-8 from downtown. Kofi Dwebeng (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) scored 10 points for the Monarchs.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, December 16 against Rutgers-Camden in a 3:00 p.m. game.
