The win is not just the first for SU (1-0), but also the first-ever victory for new coach http://www.su.edu/athletics/coachingstaff_wb.cfm?sport=Women\'s%20Basketball\"> color=\"#CC0000\" size=\"1\">Michelle Guyant-Holloway. Guyant-Holloway took over the program this past June from longtime coach Kathy Orsini.
Senior http://www.su.edu/athletics/wb/players.cfm?rid=363\"> color=\"#CC0000\" size=\"1\"> Alicia Sanders made Guyant-Holloway\'s first win even more special by cracking the 1000 point barrier at the 14:51 mark of the second half. Entering the game just 13 points from the career mark, Sanders canned a pair of free throws to reach and then pass 1000 career points 5:09 into the second.
Sanders led all scorers with 33 points in the win; she had 29 of those points following the halftime break.
Shenandoah trailed 33-29 at the break as Pitt-Greensburg (0-1) forced 12 Hornets turnovers in the first 20 minutes of play. SU also shot just 12 for 32 (37.5 percent) from the field during this span.
That all changed following the break.
Guyant-Holloway\'s club shot a sizzling 16 for 28 (57.1 percent) and made seven three-pointers to score 52 second half points. The Hornets took their first lead of the second half on a Sanders \'trey\' with 12:54 to play and after one tie and one lead change, took the lead for good on another Sanders three-ball at the 10:29 mark.
This shot started an 11-4 over the next 4:50 which gave Shenandoah its largest lead, 68-59, with 5:39 remaining. The Bobcats would cut the deficit to two points on three different occasions, but SU answered each run with a score of its own.
In addition to Sanders\' 33, freshman http://www.su.edu/athletics/wb/players.cfm?rid=1080\"> color=\"#CC0000\" size=\"1\">Alexis Hargbol had 14 off the bench.
Shenandoah faces host Lebanon Valley in the championship tomorrow at 3:00. The Flying Dutchwomen defeated Hood 53-39 in the initial game of the tournament.
