KALAMAZOO, Mich. — It took Albion College nine minutes to get on track, but once the result was impressive once it got going. Albion outscored Kalamazoo College 71-24 over the final 31:13 to coast to an 83-37 victory over its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival at the Anderson Athletic Center Wednesday night.

Kalamazoo led 13-12 when Sara Lappan knocked down a 3-point goal with 11 ½ minutes left in the first half.

Albion seized the lead for good as Kati Till and Emi Guimond scored jumpers and Brittany Kemperman added a 3-point goal as the Britons went in front 19-13 with 8:25 left in the first half.

The Britons, who led 32-18 at halftime, began the second half with four quick baskets and never looked back. Katie Elder was rewarded for hustling on the offensive end with two baskets. Charnley and Megan Garvey also scored baskets in the paint early in the second half.

All 11 Britons scored in the contest. Charnley and Kemperman led the way with 11 points apiece. Charnley, who also dished out six assists, knocked down 5-of-7 shots from the field. Kemperman was 5-of-8 from the field. Elder, Garvey, and Till finished with 10 points each.

Albion will be idle Feb. 10 before completing the regular season with road trips to Saint Mary’s College and Adrian College.
