Drakeley made five-of-six attempts from the floor, including two-of-three from beyond the arc. The reserve guard tied his career high of 16 points against the Eagles in 15 minutes off the bench.
With seven minutes remaining in the contest, Juniata (4-3) maintained a 62-53 lead after completing a 10-2 run. However, the Yellow Jackets took 65-64 lead with 2:29 left in the game after a 10-2 run of their own, capped by a lay-up by senior guard Marc Lodovico. During the run, Waynesburg made five of its seven attempts from the floor, including two-of-three from beyond the arc.
The Eagles reclaimed the lead, 66-65, with 2:03 remaining before Drakeley gave the Yellow Jackets the final lead of the game, 67-66, with 90 seconds remaining.
Lodovico and junior guard Jered Gamble joined Drakeley in double figures. Lodovico scored seven of his 10 points in the first half, while Gamble scored 12 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
With several players listed at 6-5 or taller, Juniata held a 35-26 advantage in the rebounding category. The Eagles behind 6-5 forward Brian Cannon scored 42 of their 66 points in the paint. Cannon scored a game-high 20 points on 10-of-14 attempts in 28 minutes off the bench.
The Yellow Jacket defense forced 15 Juniata turnovers and collected nine steals. Waynesburg, whose bench players scored 42 points, converted those turnovers into 22 points.
Waynesburg (3-2) opens Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday, Dec. 9, when it travels to face Grove City for a 3 p.m. tip-off. The Yellow Jackets won all three of the meetings against the Wolverines last season, including a 67-60 victory in the PAC Tournament.
