Kyle Enoch and Jimmy Curran both scored 16 points for the Dutchmen. That pair conspired to foil F&M’s late comeback bid. The Diplomats trailed 50-49 in the closing minutes. Enoch drew a foul and hit on the back end of a pair to give the Dutch a two-point lead. Enoch stole the ball from Outerbridge on the ensuing possession, ultimately yielding a Curran three-pointer which gave Lebanon Valley a five-point lead, 54-39, with 37 ticks.
A missed F&M three-pointer resulted in Enoch coming the other way with a lay-up to seal the victory for Lebanon Valley.
The teams traded leads five teams in the course of the game, with Lebanon Valley taking the lead for good with little less than 11 minutes remaining in the contest. Both teams turned the ball over far too often, but it was the Dutchmen who were able to capitalize scoring 17 points off of F&M’s 19 turnovers. The Dips were only able to muster seven points on Lebanon Valley’s 18 giveaways.
F&M was unable to score inside in the second half. After matching the Ducthmen with 12 points in the paint in the first period, the Diplomats were outscored 14-4 in the key during the second half. F&M was able to keep it close at the line, connecting on 15 of 19 shots at the charity stripe in the second half. They hit 17 of 22 shots from the line in the game.
F&M got a double-double out of Evan Hamme. In addition to his 13 points and 10 rebounds, Hamme recorded three assists, two blocks, and a steal. Bryan Teschke was F&M’s leading scorer with 14 points.
The Diplomats take a short break before returning to action in Juniata on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
