Neither team was able to establish much of an advantage in a rugged first half that saw six lead changes and 12 ties. Kyle Brudvig was a force in the paint early for Albright, scoring the first 11 points of the game for the Lions. LVC held an 11-7 lead four minutes in, but Brudvig scored on two straight possessions, the last coming off an assist from Matt Kieselowsky, to tie the game at 11 with 15:18 remaining in the half. The assist was a milestone for Kieselowsky, as he became just the second player in Albright history to reach 400 career assists. The teams went back and forth for the next 10 minutes, until a Brian Wolenski lay up gave the Dutchmen a 32-28 lead with five minutes left before the break. Albright would respond with an 11-2 run over the next two and a half minutes, highlighted by a pair of three\'s from C. J. Jewell, to take the largest lead of the half for either team at 39-34 with 2:23 on the clock. LVC answered with a 7-0 run of its own to regain the lead at 41-39, but Andre Murphy\'s tip in of a Greg Conroy miss tied the game at 41 as time expired in the half. Brudvig had 13 points to lead all scorers at the break, while Mike Boles chipped in with seven points, all from the free throw line. Curran had 11 points for the Dutchmen, who shot 60% (15-25) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
After trading baskets a couple of times to open the second stanza, Curran scored five straight points in an 8-0 LVC spurt to give the Dutchmen a 53-45 lead five minutes in. The lead grew to nine, 58-49, with 13 minutes remaining in the game, but then the Lions began chipping away. A lay up from Boles and a triple by Conroy pulled Albright within four at 58-54, and the Lions would eventually tie the score at 64 on a fast break hoop from Albert Medoro with 6:33 on the clock. Albright would not regain the lead, however, as LVC built it\'s advantage back to seven points, 76-69, on a Kyle Enoch jumper with 1:01 to play. Albright was able to whittle the lead back to three after a Kieselowsky three with 17 seconds left, and had a chance to tie the score after Curran missed the front end of a one-on-one. The Lions were unable to convert, however, and Enoch sank a pair of free throws with eight seconds left to ice the game for the Dutchmen.
Brudvig finished the game with his first career double-double, posting career highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Boles and Kieselowsky each had 11 points for the Lions, while Kieselowsky added five assists and Boles had three steals. After Curran\'s 28 points, Dan Hodge finished with 17 for LVC and Enoch chipped in with 11 points and five assists.
Albright will host defending conference champion Messiah Saturday night in the Bollman Center. Game time is scheduled for 8:00.
