bETHLEHEM, Pa. — Moravian suffered its second straight loss, falling to Ursinus College, 72-60, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds now have 24 days off before their next game on January 3rd.

The Greyhounds had won nine straight games over the Bears and had not lost to Ursinus in Johnston Hall since the first game the two schools played in Bethlehem on January 16, 1981. Moravian had won 17 straight home games against Ursinus since that first loss, and the Greyhounds now own a 29-8 all-time lead in the series.

Ursinus jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes before Moravian got on the scoreboard with a lay-up by senior forward Kelly Applegate at the 16:24 mark. The Bears eventually pushed the lead to 15 points at 21-6 with 10:49 remaining in the first half before the Greyhounds had a 10-2 run to cut lead to seven points at 23-16 with 8:05 left in the first half.

Neither team shot well in the first half but the Bears led, 31-22, at the break thanks to their free throw and three-point shooting. Ursinus made nine of 29 field goal attempts, three of eight three-pointers and ten of 11 free throws while the Greyhounds were nine of 33 from the field (27.3 percent) and four of five at the foul line. The Greyhounds missed their only three-point attempt of the first half while the Bears had a 25-21 advantage on the boards in the first half.

When the second half started, Moravian put together a 6-2 run to pull within five points at 33-28 with 17:12 on the clock; however, two quick steals and lay-ups by Ursinus junior guard Sarah Hennessey put the Bears back up by nine points, and Ursinus also scored the next five points to take a 42-28 lead with 14:58 to play. The closest the Greyhounds would get the rest of the way was six points, 55-49, after a three-point play by senior forward Jenny Hackleman. Moravian was 14 of 40 from the field in the second half (35.0 percent), one of seven on three-pointers and nine of 13 at the foul line (69.2 percent).

Ursinus put the game away at the foul line, making 22 of 31 free throws after the intermission, and the Bears were nine for 22 from the field and one of one on three-pointers in the second half. Ursinus also had a 48-45 advantage in rebounds in the game despite committing 23 turnovers to Moravian's 19 turnovers.

The Greyhounds had four players in double figures led by freshman guard Jessica Foran, who tied her career high with 17 points. Foran also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Hackleman had her second straight double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Applegate and freshman forward Kirsty Stearns each netted 11 points. Applegate contributed nine rebounds and four assists while Stearns had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen added four points and two rebounds for the Greyhounds while freshman forward Alyssa Bisci had two points and two rebounds. Junior guard La'Toya Blake had three rebounds and three assists.

Senior forward Mary Kate Daley led Ursinus with a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds to go with three assists while senior center Molly Guntli added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Hennessey finished the contest with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Bears.
