Wittenberg 61, Wooster 55

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Four players finished in double figures as Susquehanna University defeated Chestnut Hill College 61-48 in non-conference women's basketball action at O.W. Houts Gymnasium on Saturday evening.

Jen Clark led the Crusaders (10-3) with 12 points and six rebounds while Bri McNallen and Ruth Williamson added 11 points each as Susquehanna led from start to finish by as many as 21 points to improve to 7-0 at home this season.

Lindsay Formica led the Griffins (4-8) with a game-high 15 points while Andrea Carter added 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, but Chestnut Hill missed its first 11 shots from the field over the first 13 minutes, 13 seconds of the contest and could rally no closer than nine points in the second half.

Susquehanna led 16-3 with 7:07 left in the first half and took a 28-14 lead to halftime by holding Chestnut Hill to 21.7 percent (5-for-23) from the field in the half. The Crusaders were led by seven points from McNallen while Formica paced the Griffins with five points in the half.

The Crusaders took their largest lead of the evening at 39-18 with 16 minutes left on a basket by Courtney Thibeault, but scored just one field goal over the next 10 minutes as the Griffins went on a 15-4 run to pull within 43-33 with 8:13 to go.

Chestnut Hill crept within nine points on four different occasions over the final five minutes, but the Crusaders put the game away at the foul line by going 9-for-16 from the stripe in the last 3:08 of the contest.

Samantha Jansson was the fourth Crusader to finish in double figures as she scored 10 points and matched Clark for the team lead with six rebounds.

Susquehanna shot 33.9 percent (20-for-59) from the field and 16-for-28 from the line while the Griffins bounced back from their slow start to finish at 32.7 percent (18-for-55) from the floor and 9-for-12 at the foul line.

The Crusaders forced the Griffins into 29 turnovers, with Crystal Schneck coming up with five of Susquehanna's 15 steals in the game. Chestnut Hill finished with a 44-36 advantage in rebounding.
