ST. DAVIDS, Pa. — The Immaculata men's basketball team entered this evenings match-up at Eastern University as the decided underdog, but the Mighty Macs jumped to 12-2 lead out of the gate and never allowed the host Eagles to significantly cut into the lead as they held on to win 73-60. Immaculata's Robert Jones led all scorers with 22 points.
The visitors jumped the early lead as five different players scored in the opening 15-4 run. They shot 60% from the field in the opening half, and held the normally steady shooting Eagles to 39%. Kyle Finklea led the way with ten first half points for the guests. The Eagles, who had eleven turnovers shot just two for ten from behind the arc, and looked fatigued early.
Eastern chipped away at the Immaculata advantage to open the half, and were able to cut the deficit to six points on a three point play from Ty Coleman with nine and a half minutes to play, but the Mighty Macs responded with a quick 11-2 run to put the game out of reach. Immaculata improves to 3-3 in the PAC, while the Eagles, who have tough road games at Wesley and at Gwynedd-Mercy coming up, fall to 5-4.
